Modimoomatla

ModimoOmatla Center

MOMC has a core team with various professional backgrounds such as social auxiliary, lay counsellors, administrators, adherence facilitators, Project coordinators and general staff

The Organization started operating in 2009 with the aim of establishing a Hospice after realizing that Patients are discharged while still ill from the Hospital and with no one to take care of them at home. It was started by 5 members of the Methodist church, who were involved in the health sectors of Temba and were able to see a need for this service from a professional point of view.

Research was done to identify the community need and the response was positive, 75% of people needed a Hospice.
In 2014 we established a programme centered on HTS.
This where we do outreach activities such as counseling and testing, condom distribution ,community mobilization, linkage to Health facilities, Follow ups and Adherence clubs conducted at the community level.

The organization also offers support to Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) which started in 2021, providing social, health, educational, psychological and spiritual support. The Organization had 29 volunteers who had their fair share of challenges but were still determined to improve the lives of the people in the community.
They had little or no remuneration even in these economic down times.
The organization currently has 18 staff members including volunteer.
